Bears Running Back Confirms His Departure

Perhaps it was in the script for this to happen from the time the Bears became "Tennessee Titans North," so to speak. The Titans had guard Nate Davis, fullback Khari Blasingame and running back D'Onta Foreman in 2020 and 2021 when Evans also played for the Titans. Even new Bears offensive assistant Luke Steckel was in a similar role in Tennessee then.

With that group Evans had only 16 rushes over two seasons before he was waived in March of 2022.

Evans last year gained 64 yards on 14 carries, an average of 4.6 yards.

Evans' forte was supposed to be as a third-down type but he got targeted only once and made it count for a 33-yard gain against the Jets.

It's that time of free agency when some players who were on the fringe of the roster at the end of last year typically find out if they're going to be brought back because offseason work at the facility is approaching.  In most cases, these aren't players who were on the practice squad as those players received futures contracts at the end of last year.

One player there remains a question about is DeAndre Houston-Carson, the Bears special teams ace and third safety.

The Bears signed back third-string quarterback Nathan Peterman on Thursday. They could have more signings—or rejections—in the coming days before they report to Halas Hall for conditioning work April 17.
